Casper, I, thadha, lanka_s, rukf, are STATIST.

Henry, SG are NATIONIST.

India is a State, the US, UK, etc are states.

Pakistan is a NATION. VP is proposing a NATION in Jaffna.

Can the last mentioned twins --henry and sg --comprehend this important theoretical difference?

Henry just throws big words around .. I wonder if he even understands them.

SG : I would like you to tell me the factor's which influence your leaning towards, as ussa puts it, the nationist view.

SG, my reading of SL history and contemporary politics leads me to conclude that it is a STATE with persistent NATIONIST
institutions and processes. This is a negative development lasting for decades in the post colonial context.
BUT the solution to nationst statism is not separatist nationism, is it? Rather, the solution lies in questioning and attacking inequities at the ballot box, so that full STATISM can be achieved.
I am not saying it is easy. But it will be more beneficial to Tamils, Sinhalas and others in every respect. I fail to see the benefits to Tamils of separatism. Ethnonationist states have not solved their problems they have increased them. Hey look at Israel.

Ah ha Henry -- SL is a STATE yu are proposing a Tamil Nation!
Do you see the difference.
SL is much more viable being a modern legal concept. The LTTE( not the tamils) are trying to create a breakaway NATION, focusing on its alleged Tamil identity. Really a backward step into clan mentality.
