Jughead,
In several of your current writing, you claim you are an eastern Tamil. You have also implied that the eastern Tamils are distinct from the northern Tamils. Thanks to the URL for the Peace Web provided by terminator, I came across some of your old writing. In those writings, you write a totally different story:-
I studied till the year 13 in Hindu College and graduated from the Jaffna University. (Presently finished up my masters at Yale
and living back in Sri Lanka, i wont give you more than that details, got it ?)
http://www.infolanka.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/009806.html
I agree, but I don’t think many of our friends (even my self) who has the origins
in jaffna would in a good moral position to speak on such issues. http://www.infolanka.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/009807.html
Can you explain the discrepancy?
Your aim appears to be to drive a wedge between the northern and eastern Tamils. EPDP, TULF, PLOTE, EPRLF… say they are for a united North and East province. In fact, TMVP has taken a position that is even more extreme than the LTTE. In his policy speech, Mr. Karuna laid out a precondition that if no agreement is reached with the government within two years, then both sides should go their separate ways. Is there any Tamil political organization that represents your views?

Hey Kandyan aka Amaran,
Yes, Not only me but my father studied in Hindu College in Jaffna. And we all know what really exists in Jaffna.
(If you want to tell my experience in Jaffna, i will tell u all that but you wont like it)
Yes, I have jaffna origin. My grandfather(who is from batticalo) married my grandmother (a jaffna girl) but they have ostraziced her from the family for marrying a so called backward caste person from Batticalo. Infact, this does not happen only to batticaloa tamils, even jaffna tamils among them are sooooooooooooooooo caste concerned.
About studying in jaffna. it wont make me a jaffna guy. Now come on, many jaffna students study in our universities
(a hell of a lot who tries it out due standadization stealing the seats of poor batticaloa students)
>Mr. Karuna laid out a precondition that if >no agreement is reached with the government >within two years, then both sides should go >their separate ways.
So ?
>Your aim appears to be to drive a wedge
>between the northern and eastern Tamils. >EPDP, TULF, PLOTE, EPRLF… say they are for >a united North and East province.
So ? There are things i can agree in some of the above groups but i dont agree with all of them. But if you come and speak to a normal batticaloa tamilan, you would understand their suffering...
If you want to have north east equality, ask LTTE to stop dividing people. What the hell northen LTTE bhanu doing in Batticaloa and east? How many batticaloa tamils are working as leaders in the east?

When your jaffna extremists understand that you guys are not the best in the world and your LTTE is nothing but a movement of destruction, we will consider about *unity*

Jughead,
You were telling a different story back then:-
>some of my family members who have worked with the SL government have told
>me about first hand accounts of racial >discrimination practiced by government
>institutions
Bro, My grandfather was civil engineer in Jaffna years ago and he all the time narrated to me that he lived a satisfying life till the LTTE and analogous movements broke up in 1976 and onwards. But I agree there had been discrimination in the past both in north against Singhalese and in South against Tamils.
>it is inevitable that out of civil >instability and racial discrimination
I agree that there are few who take the race, religion and the caste issue as a weapon and it took place with in both Thamil and Singhalese communities. But I see
that exceptionally less nowadays, the present society everywhere (not only in Sri lanka), the young generation are not racists. (majority I mean)
If you were in Jaffna/Colombo by the 1970’s, you would uncover our fathers of the fathers refusing to let an estate tamil even to drink a cup of water from the houses, now also the same exists but very less. I belong to north (even though I have relations in the east) and I do not consider a estate tamils any sort of a low origin than mine, its my way of thinking but my grandfather or grandmother may share different opinions. its another issue.
If you lived as a black in the UK in 1950’s and same living in 2000, you would find a difference. The world is not the narrow minded globe anymore. That has nothing to do with the LTTE. No narrow restrictions for women, etc and etc.

I repeat my own words again,
"Bro, My grandfather was civil engineer in Jaffna years ago and he all the time narrated to me that he lived a satisfying life till the LTTE and analogous movements broke up in 1976 and onwards. But I agree there had been discrimination in the past both in north against Singhalese and in South against Tamils. ---> (did i say that there *were* no discriminations ?)

If you were in Jaffna/Colombo by the 1970’s, you would uncover our fathers of the fathers refusing to let an estate tamil even to drink a cup of water from the houses, now also the same exists but very less. I belong to north (even though I have relations in the east)
(------->So ?, I have my relations in East and i am proud of them!!! I am certainly pround to consider my self as an eastern tamils with seeing the way how brave eastern tamils are beating a heck out of LTTE, its a pride for me to identify my self not as a slave for LTTE but a freedom fighter from east)
and I do not consider a estate tamils any sort of a low origin than mine, its my way of thinking but my grandfather or grandmother may share different opinions. its another issue. (Yes, ?)
