Minister's wife receives death sentence

Mar 03, Colombo: Mary Juliet Fernando, the wife of Christian Affairs Minister Milroy Fernando, has been sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court after being found guilty of abducting and killing two women in Wennappuwa.

Six of the seven-member jury decided the minister’s wife and three others were guilty of murdering Chalet Theresa Fernando and Teclin Seelawathie.

Mary Juliet Fernando Monica, Ajith Priyankara Perera, Neville Rohana Peiris and Sugath Krishantha were found guilty of murdering the two victims in 1991 and 1994.
