Again, as I mention If Srilankan government fail to carry out there duties then some one going to do it for them. I think I am Wright here. It will cost us Srilankan in a big time and all the blood bath attached to it too. Like buy, one gets one free deal.

wondermyfoot,

War, violence is not going to solve this problem. For last 25 years it did not.

>If Srilankan government fail to carry out >there duties

There is no IFs. Srilankan government should carry out it's duties. This is applicable to LTTE as well. Duty mean negotiated solution.

“War, violence is not going to solve this problem. For last 25 years it did not.”

I do agree with this statement. But it is sad to note that even people who try to be impartial think that the beginning of the problem was when Tamil youth stood up against a government that treated a section of its own population as second class citizens. They conveniently forget that Tamil politicians tried every peaceful means available with no results. Violence was perpetrated against Tamils even as early as 1956 that’s long before I was born. So while the population in general should understand violence is not going to solve this problem. The government and certain sections of the Sinhalese community too should understand that the Tamil community cannot be oppressed to a point of submission. This was tried government after government, from sanctions put on life’s bare essentials to indiscriminate bombing. The Tamil resolve has been firm.

“There is no IFs. Srilankan government should carry out it's duties. This is applicable to LTTE as well. Duty mean negotiated solution.”

Negotiated solution is not an end to the grievances. It would be an end to the current armed conflict. Today most people see the current conflict between the GOSL and LTTE as the only Tamil problem they are fooling themselves.
I will not blame a single party although some individuals were worse than others but in SL politics on party has the monopoly on stupidity. They have brought harm upon Sinhalese as much as the Tamils they ignored or under utilized a large resource base, if anyone has a doubt about it see how the Tamils who left SL has prospered.
Most of the time when you speak to the Sinhalese they don’t agree that there is any discrimination. Look around systematic discrimination practiced by the government has created a major crisis. The disparity is such that any government will not be able to serve the total population.
The three armed forces are made up of Sinhalese for the Sinhalese. No one can say this happened by accident.
Police which is a department that is supposed to hold the peace should represent the population to be pro active but in SL most of the time don’t even speak the language.
Govt. has thought about the conflict for the last twenty-five years but has not thought about the population. Education system is paralyzed: Health care is almost non existent. Peoples land is held without compensation, impeding on their livelihood.
Government had failed to protect life and property of Tamils living out side North and East that they will never feel secure although they live in these parts.
These are some of the areas where the government has failed miserably in its duties and responsibilities.
