| The hospital is a
premiere teaching hospital and teaches undergraduate students from the medical school. The batch strength is approximately 150. Teaching of medical students in the wards and operating theatres occur daily. It is also a recognised postgraduate training hospital in Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Paediatrics and Orthopaedic surgery. The Colombo South Clinical Society has brought out some interesting clinical problems and plays an important part in the postgraduate activities in particular. There is a clinical meeting every two weeks in the auditorium. Morbidity - Mortality Conferences are held monthly. Journal clubs are held regularly by the various specialties.
