ASHRAAF'S MEETING STONED (99 Sep 15)
Angry crowds, on Tuesday the 14th in Akkarapattuwa, stoned a meeting organised by the Sri Lanka Muslim Party (SLMC), while Mr. Ashraaf was on the stage.
It is not known the cause for the disruption but the police had fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowds. As a result about fifteen people have been injured.
In recent weeks a dissident group of the SLMC led by Mr. "Myowan" Mustapha had posed a challenge to the SLMC leadership in the eastern province.
