PLOTE LEADER KILLED (99 Sep 08)
The so-called military leader of PLOTE Manikkadasan was killed in Rambawewa near Vavuniya. It is believed that the LTTE has exploded a bomb triggered off by remote control.
The LTTE has indicated with this killing in the wake of the murder of Dr. Neelan Thiruchelvam, that they would not tolerate any other Tamil racist party claiming to represent the Tamils in Sri Lanka.
The police has said that the LTTE has infiltrated the other parties as well as police. If that is the case police has to take some action to identify the infiltrators in the police and produce them before of a court of law.
The LTTE wants all the other Tamil racist parties to acknowledge them as the sole representatives of the Tamils and want the others to apply pressure on the government to negotiate with them with the blessings of the UNP. Britain and the Scandinavian countries are also trying to unite the UNP and the SLFP and then to push the government to negotiate with the LTTE.
Incidentally Manikkadasan is related to Upatissa Gamanayake the former secretary of the JVP.
