LTTE LINKS WITH DRUG DEALERS (99 Aug 18)
The arrest of Mumbai based Mafia Don Ashwin Naik at Indo Bangladesh border in West Bengal and of his two associates Amit Mukherjee & Kishore Purshotam Rajput in a shoot out with the Police has exposed a connection between the LTTE and Indian drug dealers according to Indian sources.
In the shoot out in West Delhi on June 7, one Sriram, alias Lamboo (an LTTE commando) has been shot dead and another called Shivraman has been injured. It is apparently during this shoot out that the Delhi police has come to know the LTTE connection. Both Sriram and Shivram, it is learnt, are LTTE trained men.
Indian sources say that the LTTE is very cautious about the drug connections being exposed because of the number of LTTE sympathisers seeking asylum in the west. However the Sinhala people have been suspecting for some time that the LTTE has connections with the drug dealers..
