UNP, PA AGREEMENT (99 Aug 11)
The UNP and the PA agreed on Wednesday the 11th, to conclude before the 30th of September discussions on the draft constitution and present it to the LTTE. This agreement was reached at a meeting convened by the business community headed by Mr. Lalith Kothelawala. If the two parties fail to come to any agreement the government will present the draft constitution to the parliament.
It is understood that some members of the Christian and Catholic churches, especially the Tamil Bishops, are behind these talks. Mr. Kothelawala who himself is a born again Christian has been working on this agreement for some time.
If the two parties agree to sell the country to the Tamil racists the Sinhala people will undoubtedly throw both parties to the dustbin of history. If some members of the Christian churches are thinking of undermining the Buddhist culture in the country using Tamil racism they are sadly mistaken. The patriotic Sinhala Christians themselves will prove that they are not mere sheep in the church.
