SRIMANI BACK IN PA (99 Jan 20)
Mrs. Srimani Athulathmudali who lost her portfolio at the last cabinet reshuffle is formally back in the PA. Last week she was seen in Vayamba addressing PA election meetings.
Mrs. Athulathmudali's Lalith Front, which was in the PA was split and a section headed by Mrs.. Athulathmudali and Mr. Ravi Karunanayake have had strained relationships with the government. However since recently, Mrs.. Athulathmudali had distanced herself from Mr. Karunanayake, who has gradually drawn towards the UNP.It is understood that Mr. Karunanayake is to be appointed as the UNP organiser of the Kotte electorate.
Mrs.. Athulathmudali was earlier against the political package of the government and it is not known whether she has changed her position on this issue.
