INQUIRY ON KILINOCHCHI (98 Oct 07)
The army commander Lt.General Rohan Daluwatte has told "The Island" that a court of inquiry has been appointed to probe the fall of Kilinochchi defences during the last week's LTTE attack
According to "The Island" Major General Sathis Jayasundera will head the inquiry and he will be assisted by two more senior officers.
The army in the meantime has gained at least four kilometers north of Mankulama on the Vavuniyava- Yapanaya Main Supply Route(MSR). The army which had been at positions three kilometers south of Mankulama was able to enter and pass Mankulama during the Kilinochchi debacle. The LTTE is silent on losing Mankulama which is a setback for them.
