The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRC) had taken a decision to allocate new FM radio frequencies to FM radio networks which would come into effect from today (1), TRC Director General Anusha Palpita said yesterday (31).

Mr. Palpita said that the main purpose of allocating new frequencies was to provide clearer reception for radio frequencies in any part of the country. “Under the new plan the frequencies have been allocated in such a manner to ensure that all FM radio channels could be accessed with ease and radio broadcasts from these radio channels could be heard with clarity by the listeners without a loss in quality in any part of the island, including remote areas,” he said.
