The mafia operating within the Ceylon Electricity Board would be found out just as the mafia in the petroleum industry was found out through the substandard petrol and diesel racket that had surfaced recently said Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka at a meeting organised by the Jathika Hela Urumaya yesterday in Kurunegala. This seminar held at the YMBA Hall in Kurunegala, was the first in a series to be held by the JHU on the theme “Rata Watalana Devana Eelam Satana Paradavamu.”

Those who worked against the JHU, which treads a religious path, would soon have to suffer the consequences of their evil actions just as those who were behind the supply and distribution of substandard diesel did. The mafia within the Ceylon Electricity Board has repeatedly attacked us and they even deprived us of oil and disrupted our services in various ways. Despite all these harassments we were able to reduce the debt burden of the CEB. We are vigilant though we don’t react openly. However through the oil rackets those in the petroleum mafia have been revealed, said Mr. Ranawaka. “How a few business tycoons were able to tap into the income from oil imports is now known to the country. I will not reveal any more about those in the mafia as it will come to the surface soon enough,” he said

The seminar was organised by the Kurunegala branch of the JHU. JHU National Organiser Nishantha Sri Warnasingha, Kurunegala District Organiser M.C. Jayarathna, and District Secretary Gamini Herath also addressed the meeting.
