The Ceylon Teachers’ Service Union (CTSU) yesterday said more than 100,000 people had signed a petition expressing their solidarity with its demand to oust Education and Higher Education Ministers Bandula Gunawardena and S. B. Dissanayake.

CTSU General Secretary Mahinda Jayasinghe told the Daily Mirror that the signatures were accumulated from Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Gampaha and Colombo during the past week while it planned to visit Embilipitiya, Kandy and Kegalle next week to collect more signatures.

The petition-signing campaign organized by the CTSU was initiated as a move to express their objection to the responses of Ministers Gunawardena and Dissanayake to the 2011 A/L candidates’ Zscore fiasco. The petition urges that the Ministers be ousted from their positions for their irresponsible behaviour towards the complications and failure to take responsibility for the muddle.
