The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has expressed its disappointment over the statement by the President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the devolution of power.

TNA National List Parliamentarian M.A Sumanthiran now on an overseas visit told the Daily Mirror yesterday over the phone that President Rajapaksa was obviously going back on his words.

“After the war ended the President himself announced that he needed to implement the 13th amendment in full.

Later on he issued a jointstatement with the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Sing from New Delhi on the devolution of power,” Mr.sumanthiran said.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa in an interview with the Indian newspaper on Wednesday said the TNA demands on the Police powers and land powers were impractical.

Meanwhile, Mr.sumanthiran also said the ongoing official discussion would continue as fixed earlier.

The next round of talk is scheduled to be held on 17, 18 and 19 January 2012.

“From January 2011, we had 18 rounds of discussions with the Government. But, we will continue with our talks,” Mr.sumanthiran added.
