President Rajapaksa worships Atamasthana after winning the elections

President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited Anuradhapura to worship Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi and Atamasthana after the landslide victory over the Presidential Election which was held recently.

President was blessed at the Maha Maluwa at Sri Maha Bodhiya by venerable Maha Sangha headed by Atamastanadipathi Venerable Pallegama Sirinivasa Nayaka Thero and Mahanayake of the Ruwanweliseya, Venerable Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thero. Later President Rajapaksa visited Ruwanweliseya, Abhayagiriya, Thuparamaya, Isurumuniya and other historical religious sites in Anuradhapura.

During the President’s first visit to the historical Buddhist City after winning the election, he inspected most of the development projects under taken at the Mahamewna Uyana in Anuradhapura. Governor of the North Central Province Mr.Karunarathna Divulgane, Chief Minister Mr.Berty Premalal Dissanayake, Minister S.M Chandrasena and the Additional Secretary to the President Mr.Gamini Senarath were present at all the religious observances.
