President Rajapaksa pays tribute to late Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh

President Mahinda Rajapaksa payed tribute to late President of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh today (23rd October) on his second day of official visit to Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He visited the Mausoleum of late President Ho Chi Minh and laid a wreath at the foot of the monument in the city of Hanoi Minh this morning.

President Ho Chi Minh was the late leader of Vietnamese Communist Revolution and great statesman and the Prime Minister from 1946 to 1955 and the President from 1945 to 1969 of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

President Rajapaksa also visited the late President Ho Chi Minh's relic area at the Presidential Palace and inspect Conference table too. Later he visited the Temple of Literature in Hanoi. He and the Sri Lankan delegation took a moment to enjoy the traditional Vietnamese music and feed the fish at the Temple pond.

The President was accompanied by the Ministers G.L. Peiris, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Rohitha Bogollagama, Governor of the Western Province Alevi Mowlana, former Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations at Geneva Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka and Additional Secretary and the Chief of Staff to the President, Gamini Senerath.

During the Sri Lankan President's three day visit to Vietnam the Vietnamese President accepted with sincere appreciation the invitation extended by his Sri Lankan counterpart to visit Sri Lanka.
