Sri Lankans in Austria hold demonstration demanding release of Tiger terrorist held civilians
Mar 8, 2008
A number of highly successful anti-LTTE demonstrations have been held in several European cities over the past few months and continuing this patriotic tradition Sri Lankans in Vienna for the second time protested on Friday 6th March at the Ballhausplatz, Vienna. It attracted over 100 persons in spite of the rainy weather.

Friday's protest rally in Vienna was organized by Austria-based Sri Lankans Against Terrorism, who demanded the immediate and unconditional release of our Tamil Brothers and Sisters forcibly held by the LTTE as a human shield. A letter requesting the Austrian government to pressurize the LTTE to release civilians was handed over to the office of the Austrian Foreign Minister.

The demonstration’s main objective was to request the Austrian Government to pressurize the LTTE to release the Tamil civilians held against their wishes so that they too can live in peace and harmony with the rest of the Sri Lankan brethren within a united Sri Lanka.

A memorandum addressed to the Hon. Dr. Michael Spindelegger, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Republic of Austria was handed over to his representative Dr. Robert Bilek at the Austrian Foreign Ministry in Vienna, after the demonstration.
