LTTE's launches new tactics to get more votes for the TNA|
Mar 30 (IL) The LTTE backed Tamil National Alliance members/supporters is alleged to have resorted to bygone issues, and are provoking the civilians with old communal issues, in their desperate bid to gain more votes at the April 2 polls. "They are working on Sinhala-Tamil hatred, and trying to provoke them against the Muslim civilians, so that unnecessary clashes will erupt, and the LTTE may benefit by these. They are talking about past incidents such as the Army setting fire to Tamil populated villages and other such incidents during the two decade long conflict," sources said.
Meanwhile During the weekend, an Eelam people’s Democratic Party female candidate for the Trincomalee district underwent verbal harassment from the LTTE female cadres, when she had gone canvassing to her village.
However, sources said that the civilians of the area had not allowed the LTTE cadres to get close to the woman candidate. "This is a good sign," they pointed out. The people seem to be arming against the LTTE in a peaceful manner, he said
