Somawansa denies media reports on his scheduled plan to leave island on March 31

Mar 30 (IL) Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Leader Somawansa Amarasinghe yesterday denied reports that he was planning to leave the country.

Referring to media reports that he was scheduled to leave Sri Lanka on March 31, Mr. Amarasinghe claimed the United National Front has begun to spread false rumours about their opponents, when they know that they (UNF) are going to face their worst defeat ever in political history.

"I request the public not to believe such false reports," he said. Meanwhile the Party in a letter to Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake alleged that the UNF is spreading false rumours and cooking up various stories against the United Peoples Freedom Alliance.

The plot conspired by the UNF was scheduled to be implemented yesterday night, with the help of a media institution, UPFA candidate Sunil Handunneththi claimed

The letter alleged that Ravi Karunanayake along with his henchmen was planning to send a group of supporters to paste posters, and another group had been set to attack them. This was planned by the UNF to put the blame on the UPFA for the incident, the JVP alleged in its letter. He alleged that both groups belong to the same party
