Religious leaders meet president on the current situation facing the country

Nov 12 (InfoLanka) The president has decided to discuss the current situation in the country with representatives of all religions and obtain their advice. The first meeting was held with the Maha Sangha of the three sects at presidents house this evening.

The Bhikkus present included the Maha Nayaka Theras, Anunayaka Theras, registrars and other leading Bhikkus. The president briefed the Maha Sangha regarding the reasons that led to her taking over the three ministries and the security of the country. President Chandrika Bandaranaike kumaratunge said that she took this decision in order to discharge her responsibility by the motherland.

The request made by the president from all patriotic forces to join hands in order to redeem the country from the present state of crisis came in for praise by the Maha Sangha. The Maha Sangha also said that the president will receive their blessings in taking decisions regarding the security and the territorial integrity of the motherland.
