St: Pauls crisis continues....

Sep 17 (InfoLanka) Students at St Paul's Girls School, Milagiriya have been badly affected by the present crisis situation prevailing at the school with attendance dropping badly, especially in the junior class section.

Informed sources claim that many parents are afraid to send their daughters to school, as teachers and senior students are at loggerheads with the school principal. They said that some parents are planning to pull their children out of the school fearing the situation in the school is getting worse. Last Thursday's incident has caused a lot of concern to parents, where the school principal is alleged to have assaulted students for protesting against her.

The sources said that the situation within the school was tensed, although senior students who staged a picket last week were currently in their classrooms studying.

The transfer of four teachers was expected to be cancelled and they are expected to reinstated within this week. Students claim that the transfer was carried out because these teachers were against the present principal.

Meanwhile teachers and parents have made a representation to the Public Services Commission, requesting the commission to remove the principal. Explaining in detail reasons for their request, the teachers and parents have pointed out that the principal was not fit for her position. They have highlighted her abusive behaviour towards students and teachers. The PSC is currently looking into their complaint.
