Sri Lanka Contributes 1 Million Surgical Gloves to WHO in Global Fight Against Ebola Outbreak

President Mahinda Rajapaksa handed over one million surgical gloves to the World Health Organisation (WHO) this evening ( Sep 18) at Temple Trees as Sri Lanka's contribution toward the global effort in combating the worsening Ebola outbreak in Africa. Death toll in West Africa Ebola epidemic goes up day by day and it is uncontrolable. At least 2,622 people have died in the worst outbreak of Ebola virus in history, which has so far infected at least 5,335 people in West Africa, the World Health Organisation said on Thursday (18).

Meanwhile U.S. President Barack Obama prepares to announce a major ramping up of medical assistance to West Africa, to control the worst-ever Ebola outbreak, CBC News announced.
