President Rajapaksa visits Shanghai EXPO 2010 Exhibition site

President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the Sri Lanka pavilion and China pavilion at EXPO 2010 trade exhibition site last evening (30th October) in Shanghai, China. President Rajapaksa who is currently on a two day official visit to China to participate at the closing ceremony of the EXPO 2010, which is one of the largest world fairs and a highly significant global event.

The 180 days event which comes to a close on 31st October has attracted more than 70 million visitors. The EXPO 2010 exhibition under the theme ‘Better City- Better Life’ is showcasing the urban life of world cities in the 21st Century.

External Affairs Minister Prof.G.L.Peiris, Housing & Construction Minister Wimal Weerawansa, Organaizer of the Sri Lanka Pavilion Hubert Jayakody and the members of the Sri Lankan delegation were also participated at the inspection visit with the President.

Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapaksa participated the closing ceremony of the Shanghai EXPO 2010 International Trade Exhibition in Shanghai, China today on 31 October. The six month long trade exhibition under the theme of ‘Better City- Better Life’ is showcasing that the modern day urban life in the 21st Century has exceeded its target of more than 70 million visitors.

Wen Jiabao, Prime Minister of China, Viktor Orban, Prime Minister of Hungary, Mari kivinlemi, Prime Minister of Finland, Hubert Ingraham, Prime Minister of Bahamas, Pakalitha Mosisili, Prime Minister of Lesotho, Ram Baran Yadav, President of Nepal and Ban-Ki-Moon, General Secretary of the United Nations and a number of state leaders of leading countries, foreign delegates, Chinese government officials and many more distinguished guests attended the final day of the event.
