Vasudeva says he and the President had rough times in prison

Vasudeva Nanayakkara has stressed that the difficulties faced by President Mahinda Rajapaksa or him while being imprisoned have not been experienced by the retired General Sarath Fonseka.

During the UNP administration, President Rajapaksa as well as Vasudeva Nanayakkkara were imprisoned on baseless allegations. Expressing his views on their past experience and what the General is going through at present, the leader of the Democratic Leftist Front said that Sarath Fonseka is not an ordinary prisoner. If so, he would have had to wait in a queue to obtain his rice and to empty and clean the bucket provided for toilet use.

He said that Sarath Fonseka is treated like a star-class prisoner. A false case was brought against Mahinda Rajapaksa and he was taken into custody back then. He stayed in the Matara Remand Prison under the above conditions. Unfortunately, his mother passed away during the period. He was allowed to visit home only for a short while. He said that the situation was such during that time.
