Dayasiri’s dancing girls leave Rosy miffed
Mar 22, 2010

UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekera, appearing in Swarnavahini's Mega Star, a popular reality television programme, on Saturday (March 20) sang the Victor Ratnayake hit, Pembara Madhu mage to the satisfaction of judges except Rosy Senanayake, who appreciated her colleague’s singing, while being critical of a sensual dance act on stage.

Jayasekera received applause from Minister Mervyn Silva, Shirley Wyjayantha and Rajiv Sebastian, though Western Provincial Council Opposition leader and UNPcandidate in Colombo Rosy Senanayake faulted Jayasekera for not being himself.

She pointed out that Jayasekera had changed his style and played the role of a different person and that was not obviously what the public knew him for.

Mrs. Senanayake was commenting on Dayasiri involving several beauties in his 'act', which was appreciated by Ravindra Randeniya, a former UNP MP, who acted in the movie, Pembara Madhu. Randeniya, who comperes the programme disputed Mrs. Senanayake and went on to praise Jayasekera's performance.

Reacting to a churlish comment by Mervyn Silva, Mrs. Senanayake said that even her blood was green and would not desert the UNP under any circumstances. A smiling Silva commented that Rosy should receive immediate medical attention as she suffered from an illness, which he called greenkemia.

Jayasekera has taken time off his political campaign in the Kurunegala District to take part in Mega Star. He is the only politician in the Mega Star contest with a host of artistes, including Damitha Abeyratne, a versatile actress. (SF)
