The "Leaders of Tomorrow", a leadership training programme organized by the Leo Club of Colombo Wekanda, originated with the intention of training emerging young leaders to become great personalities in the future.

The initial step for this programme was successfully taken on March 12 with a seminar on leadership qualities and skills. This seminar was held at the Royal College ‘Nawa Rangahala’ with the participation of District Governor of Lions District 306 C1 Lion Eng. Saliya Kaluarachchi as the Chief Guest. The seminar included two sessions of which the first was conducted by Director General – Operation, Sri Lanka Army Major General Shavendra Silva and the second session by Senior Consultant SLIDA, M. Thilakesiri. The project Chairpersons were Leo Dhanushka Ramanayake and Leo Hasini Edirisinghe.

The participants of the event were the senior prefects of a number of schools in the Colombo Educational Zone. Approximately 680 students from 50 schools participated in the event. Each school was represented by a teacher in charge. The enthusiasm of the students & teachers was a great encourage to the organizers of the event.

The first session of the seminar was a perfect motivation for the young leaders gathered. Major General Shavendra Silva said in his speech that neither clothes make a leader nor poverty can subdue a true leader. "A leader is a leader whether he wore a uniform or a swimming trunk".

In the second session the speaker dictated the most important qualities of a leader, some of them being the way a leader should speak, how he should react & respond to issues & how he should have a control over his own mind.
