Thirty officers of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse’s elite personal guard have completed an advanced two-month training course at the Haryana Police Academy at Madhuban near Karnal.

Ranging in rank from assistant inspector to superintendent of police, the Lankan officers were imparted VVIP protection and related skills as part of a Government of India initiative to train police contingents from friendly nations. The HPA, which is an ISO 9001: 2001 certified institution, has been designated as the preferred location for such training courses following assessment by the Bureau of Police Research and Development.
