Namal Rajapakse, the eldest son of president Mahinda Rajapaksa, is intending to contest the upcoming parliamentary polls from Hambantota district.

The 24-year-old today (Feb. 09) handed in his application of candidacy to the UPFA nomination board.

He is presently leading the 'Tharunyata Hetak' organization.

A past student of S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia, he is a talented rugby and tennis player and was also involved in athletics.

According to his website, Mr. Lakshman Namal Rajapakse is presently finishing a law degree at a London university.
