Vehicle prices may go up by 5% due to Yen rise: VIASL

Aug 13 (DM) Imported Japanese vehicle prices would increase due to Japanese Yen and US Dollar appreciating against the Rupee, Vehicle Importers Association of SL (VIASL) Chairman Ranjan Peiris said. The exchange rate of Japanese Yen had increased from 1.62 to 1.70 in comparison to SL Rupee. Adverse weather destroys over 1,700 houses

Aug 13 (Xinhua) Over 1,700 houses have been damaged from days of strong winds and heavy rains which lashed out across Sri Lanka since last Thursday, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) said in its latest update here Monday.
